Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system will persist over the Tasman Sea for the remainder of the weekend. A narrow ridge of high pressure over western Victoria will contract to eastern Victoria on Sunday. A trough of low pressure south of the Bight will approach southwest Victoria Sunday night then will move eastwards across the State on Monday. Another low pressure system is expected to cross the Bight on Tuesday moving eastwards to NSW on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of morning fog and frost over the north and west. Isolated showers in the south clearing from central districts during the afternoon. Showers however redeveloping from the western border during the afternoon, reaching central districts during the evening. Possible thunderstorms near the southwest coast at night. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres. Remaining dry across the far northwest. Cool and partly cloudy with light winds tending northerly over western districts during the afternoon.Monday 20 MayLocal morning fog and frost in the northeast. Scattered showers, clearing from the west during the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest and near the coast. Rain falling as snow above 1700 metres. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwesterly winds tending southwesterly from the west.Tuesday 21 MayMorning fog and frost patches. Isolated showers clearing from the southeast during the afternoon. Patchy rain entering the northwest in the late afternoon and evening. A cool to cold and cloudy day with light winds tending light to moderate northeasterly over the west.Wednesday 22 MayPatchy rain spreading eastwards across northern Victoria. Isolated showers elsewhere. Cool with moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
