MELBOURNE - May 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system lies over the southern Tasman Sea while a high north of Adelaide extends a ridge to the south. These system are producing a southwesterly airstream over eastern NSW. The high and ridge will move slowly east over the weekend to lie over eastern parts of the state on Monday. A low pressure system and associated rain band is expected to affect the state next week. Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning frost areas and patchy early fog about the ranges. Isolated showers about the far southeast, falling as snow on the Alps. Fine remainder, mostly sunny near the coast, partly cloudy west of the ranges. Chiefly west to southwest winds, locally fresh in the southeast.Monday 20 MayWidespread frost about the ranges and slopes. Mostly sunny in the east, with some high cloud increasing in the west. Isolated showers over the southern ranges and slopes and the far south coast, falling as snow showers above 1700 metres on the far southern ranges. Southwest to northwest winds.Tuesday 21 MayCloud extending throughout the state with rain developing over the western inland, more widespread near the South Australian border. The chance of morning showers over the southern ranges and slopes. West to southwest winds in the southeast.
