MELBOURNE - May 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system will remain over the Tasman Sea during the weekend. A ridge of high pressure over the Bight will move towards western Victoria on Saturday before weakening as it crosses the State on Sunday and Monday. A weak low pressure system will form west of Tasmania during Monday with an associated trough crossing southern Victoria. Another low pressure system moving eastwards across the Bight on Tuesday will cross the SA coast late in the day. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers or drizzle possible near and south of the ranges, mainly near the coast. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. Mostly dry in the north, just isolated showers possible during the afternoon. Local morning fog and frost. A cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Sunday 19 MayAreas of morning fog and frost across the north. Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast and easing from the west. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. Patchy rain developing over the southwest during the afternoon. Remaining dry across the north. Cool and partly cloudy with light to moderate southwesterly winds tending northwest to northerly across the west in the afternoon.Monday 20 MayLocal morning fog and frost in the northeast. Isolated showers possible over most districts, clearing over the west in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the southwest. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwesterly winds.Tuesday 21 MayIsolated showers clearing from the southeast early in the morning. Areas of rain developing over the northwest during the morning and extending to most districts in the afternoon and evening. Snow possible above 1600 metres.
