Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over South Australia will move eastwards to be over the eastern states by Sunday, where it will remain through early next week. A deepening low pressure system will be situated near the western border later on Monday, and then move eastwards over Bight waters on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPossible isolated showers about coastal areas east of Eyre Peninsula, temporarily extending over southern agricultural area for the afternoon, clearing in the evening. Morning fogs over the agricultural area. Cool to mild with mainly light and variable winds.Sunday 19 MayCool to cold early with morning frost on and east of the Flinders and Mount Lofty Ranges. Early fog patches in the South East district. Fine apart from patchy rain and possible thunder developing about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast, and isolated showers developing in the far northwest. Generally mild with mainly light northerly winds.Monday 20 MayPatchy rain and possible thunder about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East, contracting eastwards and clearing by evening. Areas of rain also extending from the west to reach areas west of about Kingscote to Marree late evening. Fine over the remainder. Generally mild with light to moderate northerly winds, becoming moderate to fresh north to northwesterly over western districts.Tuesday 21 MayAreas of rain, clearing from western districts during the day. Scattered showers, however, persisting following the rain over the agricultural area and West Coast district, with isolated showers further north. Cool to mild with moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting fresh to strong northwest to southwesterly in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday morning to midnight Tuesday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm, reducing to 5 to 10 mm over the Northeast Pastoral district. The majority of this rainfall is expected with the rain area extending from the west during Monday and Tuesday.Wednesday until FridayAreas of rain near the eastern border contracting east and clearing early Wednesday. Scattered showers persisting over areas south of about Broken Hill to Cook, becoming isolated Wednesday evening, with isolated showers over the remainder south of Coober Pedy during the day. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area and remaining coastal areas on Thursday, contracting to southern coasts on Friday. Cool to mild days. Fresh northwest to southwesterly winds extending throughout on Wednesday, easing and becoming southwest to southeasterly by evening, then mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds on Thursday and Friday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Saturday.Product IDS10033
