MELBOURNE - May 17/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure over the Tasman Sea will move only slowly eastwards on Friday and Saturday as a high pressure ridge gradually moves from the Bight towards western Victoria. The ridge will be weakening when it crosses the State on Sunday and Monday with a small low pressure system expected to form west of Tasmania during Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, more isolated in the west. Isolated showers extending north of the divide in the afternoon but remaining dry over the far northwest. Snow above 1400 metres. A cool to cold day with a moderate to fresh south to southwesterly wind moderating from the west.Saturday 18 MayIsolated showers persisting in southern and mountain areas. Local afternoon showers reaching some northern areas. Local morning fogs in the west. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with a light to moderate south to southwesterly wind.Sunday 19 MayMorning frost and fog patches in the north and east. Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts but dry on the northern plains. Cool and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Monday 20 MayIsolated showers in the south but dry in the north.
