Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just to the northwest of Tasmania is expected to become slow moving before moving eastwards to pass through central and eastern Bass Strait later on Wednesday and early Thursday. The low will be over the Tasman Sea on Friday while a high pressure system will be located to the southwest of Tasmania. On Saturday the high pressure system will drift to the south of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts tending to rain near the west coast. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Showers more widespread near the west coast. Snow showers above 1200m. Local hail in the south and possible thunderstorms about the west coast. Moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Wednesday 15 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, widespread near the coast. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains. Snow showers above 1200m. Local hail and thunder in the south. A cold day with fresh and gusty northwest to westerly winds tending southwesterly in the west.Thursday 16 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more extensive near the coast and over Gippsland. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains. Snow showers above 1400m. Local hail and thunder in the south. A cold day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the central and Gippsland coasts.Friday 17 MayFine over the northern plains. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered in Gippsland and over the Central district. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool day with a moderate to fresh south to southwesterly wind moderating from the west.Saturday 18 MayScattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas. Fine over the north. Early frost inland then a cool day with a light to moderate south to southwesterly wind, fresh at times in Gippsland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
