Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 13/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just to the west of Tasmania is expected to become slow moving near southern Tasmania tonight before deepening on Tuesday and moving northeastwards to pass through central and eastern Bass Strait later on Wednesday and early Thursday. The low will be over the Tasman Sea on Friday while a high pressure system will be located to the southwest of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers on and south of the ranges with isolated showers over the northern plains. Isolated thunderstorms and hail over western and central areas. Snowfalls down to 1200 metres. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly wind, locally strong near the coast.Tuesday 14 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts although fine over the far east. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Showers becoming widespread near the west coast later in the day. Snow showers above 1200m. Local hail in the west. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Wednesday 15 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, widespread near the coast. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains. Snow showers above 1200m. A cold day with moderate northwest to westerly winds tending southwesterly in the west.Thursday 16 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more extensive over Gippsland. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains. Snow showers above 1300m. A cold day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the central and Gippsland coasts.Friday 17 MayFine over the northern plains. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered in Gippsland. Snow above 1600 metres. A cool day with a moderate to fresh south to southwesterly wind moderating from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
