MELBOURNE - May 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea is drifting away to the east. A cold front and associated low pressure trough will affect western and central districts of Victoria during today before extending to eastern districts tonight. The trough is expected to deepen to form a low pressure centre near Tasmania on Monday. The low will remain just to the south of Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly morning fog patches and areas of smoke haze in the east. Rain areas developing over the far west during the morning, then gradually extending to central districts late afternoon or evening and reaching the east overnight. Possible thunderstorms over the west and later affecting central areas. Mild to warm with fresh northerly winds, but colder west to northwesterly winds extending from the west.Monday 13 MayRain areas contracting to the east then clearing during the evening. Scattered showers to follow on and south of the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail possible over the southwest. Snow above 1100 metres. Cool with moderate northwesterly winds, fresh to strong in the southwest.Tuesday 14 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more extensive near the coast. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains. Snowshowers above 1100m. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 15 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more extensive near the coast. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains. Snowshowers above 1200m.
