MELBOURNE - May 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure in the west will move across the State during today and Sunday morning. A cold front and an upper cold pool will move over the southeast of the State on Monday. An associated slow moving low pressure system will develop over Tasmania later Monday and move to the Tasman Sea by Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA band of rain and isolated thunder west of a line Roxby Downs to Adelaide moving eastwards to reach Leigh Creek to Bordertown around midnight, clearing over the far west. A generally mild evening with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a moderate west to southwesterly change moving across the west.Sunday 12 MayA band of rain with the chance of local thunder moving over central and eastern parts, clearing from the west and easing to patchy rain over the east during the afternoon. Isolated showers to follow about the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunder about south-central and southeastern districts in the afternoon and evening. Warm in the far northeast, cool to mild elsewhere. Light to moderate northeasterly winds in the far northeast shifting south to southwesterly later, moderate southwesterly winds over the remainder, fresh near the coast.Monday 13 MayPatchy rain in the far northeast, clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to scattered over southern coastal districts. The chance of hail and thunder south of about Adelaide. Cold in the southeast, cool elsewhere. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, strong about southeastern coasts.Tuesday 14 MayScattered showers over the southern agricultural area, isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and West Coast district. Cold in the southeast, cool elsewhere. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Wednesday 15 MayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, scattered about the southern agricultural area until mid afternoon. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 10 to 30 mm over the southern agricultural area and parts of the West Coast district, with local falls of 30 to 40 mm possible about southern coasts and ranges. Totals of 5 to 10 mm are expected elsewhere, except in the far northeast where totals of less than 5 mm are expected.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, clearing by Saturday.
