MELBOURNE - May 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will remain over the Tasman Sea for most of the forecast period, moving only slowly towards New Zealand. A cold front will move across the State on Sunday while an associated low pressure system will remain to the south of Victoria until early next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly clear apart from areas of smoke haze, mainly in the east. Light to moderate north to northeasterly winds with afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 11 MayEarly fog patches in the east then a fine, warm and mostly sunny day. Areas of smoke haze, mainly in the east. High cloud increasing over the west at night. Moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds, lighter in the east with afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Sunday 12 MayMorning fog patches over Gippsland. Areas of smoke haze. Patchy rain developing over the southwest during the morning, extending to central districts by night. Mild to warm over central and eastern districts with fresh northerly winds but cooler in the west with northwesterly winds.Monday 13 MayPatchy rain contracting to the east then clearing during the evening. Isolated showers to follow on and south of the ranges, more widespread in the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail possible over the southwest. Cool Moderate northwesterly winds, fresh to strong in the southwest.Tuesday 14 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more extensive near the coast. Isolated showers extending north of the divide. Snowfall down to 1200m.
