MELBOURNE - May 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high centred over the Tasman Sea will remain slow moving until early next week. A low pressure trough will move across the western districts today, then slowly continue across South Australia during the weekend. A low pressure system is expected to develop to the south of Kangaroo Island during Sunday. Forecast for the rest of FridayWarm to hot. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong at times over western and central districts till early afternoon. Possible areas of raised dust over Eyre Peninsula till early afternoon. Possible isolated showers and the chance of thunder developing in the far west, extending to areas west of about Port Lincoln to Tarcoola by midnight. Showers becoming patchy rain west of about Nullarbor late in the evening.Saturday 11 MayA band of rain extending across western parts of the State during the day and reaching a line about Mount Gambier to Clare to Marla by midnight. Warm to hot with fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwest to southerly change moving across western and central parts of South Australia reaching a line about Mount Gambier to Clare to Marla by midnight.Sunday 12 MayA band of rain moving over central and eastern parts, before clearing to the east in the afternoon. Isolated showers persisting about the southern agricultural area and the West Coast district following the rain. Warm in the far northeast, otherwise cool to mild. Light to moderate northeasterly winds in the far northeast, otherwise moderate to fresh southwest to northwesterly winds, reaching fresh to strong at times near southern coasts.Monday 13 MayPatchy rain in the far northeast, contracting northeastwards and clearing during the evening. Isolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, increasing to scattered near southern coasts and in the Lower South East. Cool throughout with moderate to fresh southwest to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong near southern coasts. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning through to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 15 mm, decreasing to generally less than 2 mm northeast of a line Oodnadatta to Renmark. Totals of 15 to 25 mm are possible near southern coasts and in the Lower South East.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered near southern coasts and ranges and in the South East district. Isolated showers contracting to coasts on Thursday.
