Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 3/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
A Strong Wind Warning is current for coastal waters between
Torres Strait and Cooktown.

Weather Situation
A high [1024 hPa] over the Tasman Sea is expected to move slowly to the east
and weaken as a new high becomes established in the Great Australian Bight
today.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Isolated showers about the tropical east, with showers clearing during the
morning in the Central Coast. Mostly fine with only isolated showers in the far
northwest of the state. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Moderate to fresh SE
winds about the coast in the north. Light to moderate SE to NE winds
elsewhere.
Forecast for Sunday
The new high will move over southeastern Australia whilst reinforcing the
ridge along the east coast and maintaining isolated coastal showers along the
northern tropics. Mainly fine about the far southeast though with the chance of
some isolated showers. Dry air should maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions
for the remainder of the state except for the far northwest where there's the
chance of some isolated showers.
Forecast for Monday
The high should linger over southeast Australia and maintain an onshore flow
and isolated to scattered showers across Queensland's eastern districts, and
isolated storms are also possible about the Capricornia, the Central Coast and
over the Central Highlands.  Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the
state.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will shift to the eastwards and into the southern Tasman Sea,
maintaining an onshore flow and isolated to scattered showers across
Queensland's eastern districts, with isolated showers extending into the eastern
interior. Thunderstorms are possible about the southeast interior as an upper
trough pushes eastwards. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the
state.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The high should remain over the Tasman Sea and will maintain showers over the
eastern districts. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Saturday.
