MELBOURNE - May 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the NSW south coast will weaken as it moves north along the NSW coast today. A cold front will cross waters south of the Bight today to reach the southwest late in the day. The front will move rapidly across Victoria to the Tasman Sea by midday Saturday. The next high pressure system will move over waters south of the Bight on Saturday. The high will then move slowly eastwards over Tasmania during Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayEarly frost patches in the northeast. Isolated showers developing near and south of the ranges apart from central and eastern Gippsland. A band of rain reaching the southwest late in the day. Remaining dry across the north with high cloud increasing from the west. A mild day with freshening north to northwesterly winds, becoming strong over elevated areas and parts of the south.Fire Danger - High to Very High.Saturday 4 MayA band of rain near and south of the ranges clearing through central and eastern districts during the morning. Isolated morning showers possible elsewhere but contracting to the Gippsland coast by the afternoon. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds extending throughout in the morning and becoming strong about the Central and Gippsland coast. Winds gradually easing during the afternoon.Sunday 5 MayIsolated showers near the coast, contracting east and clearing later. Cool to mild day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Monday 6 MayIsolated morning drizzle near the coast.
