MELBOURNE - Apr 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight across Victoria and will persist over the State today. A cold front will cross Bass Strait and southern Victoria on Wednesday. A high pressure system will move over Victoria on Thursday then track northeastwards over the northern Tasman Sea on Friday. Another cold front will cross Tasmania and eastern Bass Strait late on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy morning fog. Isolated showers possible over the far north and east and isolated morning showers possible near the coast. A mild partly cloudy day with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Wednesday 1 MayScattered showers developing near the coast and isolated showers extending inland to the divide but mainly dry over the northern plains. The chance of brief snowfalls on southern Alpine slopes above 1600 metres. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light winds becoming moderate to fresh southwesterly.Thursday 2 MayLocal morning frost in the north and west. Isolated showers about the Gippsland coast clearing by the afternoon. A cool to mild and mostly sunny day with light winds.Friday 3 MayDry at first with mild north to northwesterly winds freshening.
