MELBOURNE - Apr 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight across Victoria and will persist over the State tomorrow. An upper level trough over the Bight, will cross Victoria early Tuesday. A cold front will cross Bass Strait on Wednesday, then the next high will move over Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayEarly fog patches in the south and northeast. Mostly cloudy over the north with patchy rain mainly over the northwest and near the northern border. Partly cloudy over the south with isolated showers, mostly near the coast and also over the southwest. Generally mild with light westerly winds, locally fresh about alpine areas this morning.Fire Danger - Low to Moderate.Tuesday 30 AprilIsolated morning showers possible near the coast. Patchy rain over the north, contracting to the east during the evening. A mild day with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 1 MayIsolated showers over the south extending to parts of the north in the afternoon. Showers becoming more widespread over the south in the afternoon and falling as snow above 1400 metres in the east. Isolated thunderstorms and small hail possible over the south. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light winds becoming fresh west to southwesterly, locally strong near the coast.Thursday 2 MayScattered showers over the southeast becoming isolated and mostly clearing by late in the day. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres during the morning.
