MELBOURNE - Apr 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation The tail end of a cold front will clear northeastern Victoria this evening. A ridge of high pressure over the Bight will extend across Victoria tonight and will persist over the State on Monday and Tuesday. An upper level trough over the Bight on Monday, will cross Victoria early Tuesday. A cold front will cross Bass Strait on Wednesday, the next high will move over western Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMostly dry, just some isolated showers over the far east and near the coast. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.Monday 29 AprilEarly fog patches in the south and northeast. A mild day, becoming cloudy with patchy rain extending across the north. Isolated showers possible in the south, mainly near the coast. Generally light westerly winds, locally fresh about the ranges.Fire Danger - Low to Moderate.Tuesday 30 AprilIsolated morning showers possible near the coast. Patchy rain over the north, contracting to the east during the evening. A mild day with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 1 MayIsolated showers over the south extending to parts of the north in the afternoon. Showers becoming more widespread over the south in the afternoon and falling as snow above 1400 metres in the east. Isolated thunderstorms and small hail possible over the south. Cool in the south, milder in the north with light winds becoming fresh west to southwesterly, locally strong near the coast.Thursday 2 MayScattered showers over the southeast becoming isolated and mostly clearing by late in the day. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres during the morning.
