Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea has moved to near New Zealand, allowing a narrow ridge of high pressure to cross eastern Victoria this morning. A decaying cold front will reach western Victoria about midnight Sunday then cross the rest of the State on Monday morning. A second cold front will cross southern Victoria on Monday night and Tuesday morning and a third front will brush the coast on Wednesday. A high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayLocal early morning fog and frost. Mostly sunny at first but cloud increasing from the west during the day and northeast to northerly wind gradually freshening. Patchy rain extending from the western border during the afternoon to reach central areas during the evening and the east late at night. A cool to mild day.Fire Danger -  Moderate to high.Monday 22 AprilPatchy rain contracting eastwards and clearing during the morning. Isolated showers to follow, becoming scattered in the southwest late in the day. Moderate northwest to westerly winds shifting colder southwesterly later over the southwest.Tuesday 23 AprilIsolated showers, mainly in southern and mountain areas. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, lighter in the north.Wednesday 24 AprilMorning fogs in the north and east. Isolated showers in the southwest and over South Gippsland, locally extending inland to affect most southern areas in the afternoon. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
