MELBOURNE - Apr 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near Tasmania extends a ridge to the north, while a low pressure system off the New South Wales central coast is moving north-northeast. Between these systems, vigorous winds are being generated over coastal parts of the state. The low is expected to weaken and move rapidly away from the coast overnight and early Sunday while the ridge moves over eastern New South Wales. A weak trough will moves over western districts later in the day before another ridge from the west strengthens over the region. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayWidespread showers and possible thunder about central parts of the coast, locally heavy, easing overnight. Isolated showers about the remainder of the coast and afjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, strong and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Sunday 21 AprilEarly fog and frost about the southern and central ranges. Fine and mostly sunny about the coast, apart from the chance of early showers about the coastal fringe. Isolated showers or patchy rain developing in the far west during the afternoon, mainly near the Victorian border, and extending to the central west later. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds in the west, and southerly winds near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions, easing from the south later.Monday 22 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast districts, scattered at first about the southern ranges and western slopes. Fine in the west. Generally light to moderate westerly winds.Tuesday 23 AprilThe chance of showers over parts of the southern inland, otherwise fine and mostly sunny. Southwest to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 24 AprilThe chance of showers about the far north coast, otherwise fine and mostly sunny.
