Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high south of Tasmania is moving slowly eastwards and weakening. A low pressure trough is expected to move across the far west of the State this evening and then extend eastwards to reach the eastern border late Sunday evening. A weak front will move across southern coasts on Monday evening, with another front passing to the south on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPatchy rain extending across western districts and the North West Pastoral south of about Coober Pedy, possibly reaching Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island late evening. Isolated thunderstorms west of Ceduna. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds, tending northerly in the west ahead of a fresh southwesterly change over far west in the evening.Sunday 21 AprilAreas of rain extending across the agricultural area and southern pastorals with patchy rain further north, grading to isolated showers over the north of the pastoral districts. rain contracting to eastern districts by evening then clearing late evening. Isolated showers to follow the rain about the agricultural area contracting south in the evening. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong near the coast ahead of a southwesterly change of similar strength in the west, reaching eastern districts in the evening. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north.Monday 22 AprilIsolated showers about the agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunderstorms about southern coasts and ranges in the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers also near the northern border. Moderate northwest to southwest winds, becoming light and variable in the northwest later. Cool to mild in the south, warm in the north.Tuesday 23 AprilIsolated showers across the agricultural area, with possible showers over the southern pastoral districts, mainly in the afternoon. Moderate westerly winds in the south, light and variable further north.Wednesday 24 AprilIsolated showers about southern coasts with possible showers extending over the southern agricultural area. Isolated showers in the northwest. Mild to warm with generally westerly winds in the south, tending southeast to northeasterly in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday morning to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm over the agricultural area, reaching 15 to 20 mm about southern coasts and ranges, with local falls of 20 to 30 mm possible. 2 to 10 mm is expected over the south of the pastoral districts and less than 2 mm further north.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers in the northeast extending across the north of the state then confined to the northeast on Saturday. Possible isolated showers about the Lower South east coast on Thursday. Mild to warm with mainly light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds in the north and northeast to northwesterly winds in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Sunday.Product IDS10033
