MELBOURNE - Apr 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system off the east coast of New South Wales will continue to move northeastwards. A strong high pressure system to the south of Tasmania will extend a ridge northwards across Victoria on Saturday. A cold front will enter western Victoria late Sunday but is expected to weaken as it crosses the State on Monday morning. A second cold front will move through southern Victoria Monday afternoon and evening. Yet another cold front will approach western Victoria later on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers in Gippsland. Isolated showers also about the central coast and the Otway ranges, but dry elsewhere. Snow about the Alpine areas. Light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh to strong in the east.Saturday 20 AprilScattered showers over East Gippsland, isolated showers over the remainder of Gippsland, Central coast and the Otway ranges. Dry and mostly sunny elsewhere. Local early frost, then a cool to mild day with light to moderate southeast to easterly winds.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Sunday 21 AprilLocal early morning fog and frost. Cloud increasing from the west and northerly wind freshening. Patchy rain extending from the western border during the afternoon and evening but remaining dry over the far southeast. A cool to mild day.Monday 22 AprilPatchy rain contracting eastwards and clearing during the morning. Isolated showers to follow in the south but patchy rain redeveloping in the southwest later in the day. Light to moderate northwesterly winds shifting colder southwesterly over the southwest.Tuesday 23 AprilIsolated showers, mainly in southern and mountain areas.
