MELBOURNE - Apr 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system southwest of Tasmania is expected to move slowly east into the Southern Tasman Sea over the next couple of days, while a low pressure system off the NSW South Coast today moves to the northeast on Saturday. The interaction between these systems will bring widespread showers, and strong southerly winds to far southeast NSW this evening then to central parts of the coast and ranges Saturday. Conditions are expected to ease on Sunday as the low moves away and the high extends a ridge over the coast. A weak upper system is expected to cross the state from the west Sunday and Monday with just isolated showers associated. Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers becoming widespread in the far southeast and locally heavy. Snow showers on the southern Alps above 1400 m. Isolated showers developing about the central parts of the coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Cool southwest to southeasterly winds, strong to gale force and gusty along the southern and central coasts. Dangerous surf conditions.Saturday 20 AprilWidespread showers about southern and central parts of the coast, locally heavy and with thunder, easing from the south. Isolated showers about the remainder of the coast and ranges. Early snow above about 1400 metres on the Alps. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, strong and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Sunday 21 AprilEarly fog and frost about the southern and central ranges. Mostly sunny coast and ranges. Isolated showers developing further west, becoming more widespread in the southwest. Light to moderate north to northwest winds extending throughout. Dangerous surf conditions easing from the south.Monday 22 AprilPossible isolated showers in eastern districts, clearing during the day. Fine in the west. Generally light to moderate westerly winds.Tuesday 23 AprilPossible isolated showers over the southern inland and on the far north coast.
