Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system well south of the Bight is expected to move slowly east into the Southern Tasman Sea over the next couple of days, while a low pressure system forms off the NSW South Coast tomorrow then moves to the northeast on Saturday. The interaction between these systems will bring widespread showers, lower temperatures and strong southerly winds to the far southeast tomorrow then to central parts of the coast and ranges Saturday. Conditions are expected to ease on Sunday as the low moves away and the high extends a ridge over the coast. A weak upper system is expected to cross the state from the west Sunday and Monday with just isolated showers associated.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers south and central coasts and ranges with possible local thunder. Showers increasing about the far south coast and southern ranges this evening with late snow showers above about 1400 metres on the Alps. Mostly clear elsewhere. Variable wind in the northeast, with southeast to southwesterly winds extending across the remainder, freshening on the southern coast.Friday 19 AprilShowers increasing in the far southeast and becoming widespread and locally heavy later. Snow showers on the southern Alps above 1200 m. Isolated showers about the remainder of the coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Cool southwest to southeasterly winds, becoming strong and gusty along much of the coast and about the southern ranges. Dangerous surf conditions developing from the south.Saturday 20 AprilWidespread showers about central parts of the coast, locally heavy. Isolated showers about the remainder of the coast and ranges. Early snow above about 1400 metres on the Alps. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, strong and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Sunday 21 AprilEarly fog and frost on the southern and central ranges. Mostly sunny coast and ranges. Isolated showers developing further west, becoming more widespread in the southwest. Light to moderate north to northwest winds extending throughout.Monday 22 AprilPossible isolated showers in eastern districts, clearing during the day. Fine in the west.
