Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A surface trough extends from the Gulf Country down to the southeast interior. An upper trough over the southeast will contract offshore early on Thursday. A new high is expected to approach Tasmania from the west and will maintain dry and mostly sunny conditions across much of Queensland's interior. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Mostly fine across the state. Isolated afternoon and evening showers and gusty thunderstorms across parts of the southeast and central districts, and also over the Peninsula District. Mostly fine across most of the remaining eastern districts apart from some isolated showers. Light winds over the interior and the Gulf Country, with moderate SE to NE winds about the east coast. Forecast for Thursday Mostly fine across the state apart from some isolated afternoon and evening showers and gusty thunderstorms about the southeast and central parts of the state, and isolated showers over Cape York Peninsula. Forecast for Friday The high will move over Tasmania and extend a ridge up the east coast as another upper trough strengthens over central Queensland. The high should push a southerly wind change into the state's far southeast. Most of the state will be fine and mostly sunny apart from some isolated showers about the southern coast and parts of central Queensland, with possible thunderstorms over the Capricornia and southern Central Highlands and Coalfields districts. Isolated showers persisting over Cape York Peninsula. Forecast for Saturday The high will slowly move into the Tasman Sea while maintaining a ridge up the east coast of Queensland, while the upper level trough will move north over central districts and weaken. Fine and mostly sunny across most of the state apart from some isolated showers over the southeast tropics. Cooler temperatures over southern districts. Forecast for Sunday The east coast ridge should continue to weaken, and the associated weakening of the onshore winds should leave most of the eastern districts fine except for just a few isolated showers about the central coast. An upper trough approaching southwest Queensland will generate cloudy conditions with isolated showers and thundery light rain, with little or no precipitation expected to reach the ground. Cooler temperatures over southern and central districts. Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday A series of upper troughs, combined with a surface trough through the interior of the state will increase the potential for showers and thunderstorms in southern and central Queensland. Mostly fine over the rest of the state, isolated showers and thunderstorms over Cape York Peninsula. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST Thursday.
