Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough is weakening over northeastern New South Wales as a ridge extends across Bass Strait from a high south of the Bight. This is promoting generally fine weather west of the Divide today, with showers generally restricted to areas nearer the coast. The high is forecast to strengthen as it drifts slowly east during the next day or two, pushing a gusty cool change across the state later on Thursday and Friday and bringing a taste of wintery weather to many areas. Conditions are expected to ease again through the weekend under the influence of another ridge, with the next trough expected to cross the state early in the new week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the coast and adjacent ranges, tending scattered in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to southwesterly winds, turning northeasterly about the southern coast later.Thursday 18 AprilIsolated coastal showers, tending scattered in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Variable wind in the northeast, with southeast to southwesterly winds extending across the remainder, freshening on the southern coast.Friday 19 AprilIsolated showers about the coast and adjacent ranges, with possible snow showers on the southern Alps.
