Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure will extend across Victoria during today and Wednesday. A weak cold front will pass through Bass Strait Wednesday night and Thursday morning as the next high pressure system develops south of the Bight. The high will move steadily eastwards on Thursday maintaining a southerly airflow across Victoria. The high will move slowly southeastwards on Friday, reaching a position south of Tasmania by Friday night and well south of New Zealand by Saturday night. A weakening cold front will move through the Bight on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over the Gippsland coast. Fine in the remainder. Light southerly winds.Wednesday 17 AprilLocal morning fog patches mainly in the south. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Fine and mostly sunny over the north. Cool with moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Thursday 18 AprilScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, possibly falling as snow later about the Alpine peaks. The chance of thunderstorms over the southeast. Fine over the northern plains. Cool with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Friday 19 AprilScattered showers in the southeast, possibly falling as snow about the peaks in the morning and becoming more isolated during the day. Cool day with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Saturday 20 AprilIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing in the afternoon. Cool to mild day with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
