MELBOURNE - Apr 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure will extend across Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday with an upper level trough in the east clearing the State by Tuesday afternoon. A weak cold front will pass through Bass Strait Wednesday night as the next high pressure system develops south of the Bight. The high will move steadily eastwards on Thursday maintaining a southerly airflow across Victoria. The high will move slowly southeastwards on Friday, reaching a position just south of Tasmania by Friday night. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayLocal morning fog patches in the south. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, clearing from the west and contracting to the Gippsland coast by the evening. Fine and mostly sunny across the north. Cool to mild with moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Wednesday 17 AprilLocal morning fog patches mainly in the south. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Fine and mostly sunny over the north. Cool with moderate southerly winds.Thursday 18 AprilScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, possibly falling as snow later about the Alpine peaks. The chance of thunderstorms over the southeast. Fine over the northern plains. Cool with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Friday 19 AprilScattered showers in the southeast, possibly falling as snow about the peaks in the morning and becoming more isolated during the day.
