MELBOURNE - Apr 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over northeastern Victoria will move southeastwards on Monday as an upper level trough approaches from the west. A weak ridge of high pressure will extend across the Victoria on Tuesday and Wednesday. A weak cold front will pass through Bass Strait Wednesday night as the next high pressure system develops south of the Bight. The high will move steadily eastwards on Thursday maintaining a southerly airflow across Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers and the chance of thunderstorms mainly over the north and east. Areas of smoke haze in the east. Southwest to southerly winds gradually extending throughout.Monday 15 AprilLocal morning fog patches. Rain areas in the far east, contracting to East Gippsland during the afternoon. Scattered showers over the remainder of the in the south tending isolated in the west. The chance of thunderstorms over the northeast. Dry over the northwest plains. Generally cool with moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger - Generally low to moderate.Tuesday 16 AprilLocal morning fog patches. Scattered showers over the southeast. Isolated showers possible elsewhere in the south, but tending to clear from the west. Dry and mostly sunny across the north. Cool to mild with moderate southerly winds.Wednesday 17 AprilLocal morning fog patches mainly in the south. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Dry and mostly sunny over the north.
