Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea. A cold front will move into western Victoria later on Saturday, reaching central areas at night and then to the east on Sunday morning. A high pressure ridge will then extend across Tasmania on Sunday as a low pressure trough forms over eastern Victoria. The surface trough will deepen on Monday as an upper level trough approaches. The trough and upper level system will move east of Victoria on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in the west and isolated showers and thunderstorms over east Gippsland clearing this evening. Areas of smoke haze, mostly in the east. Light to moderate northerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 13 AprilIsolated showers over the southwest. Generally dry elsewhere, apart from isolated showers possible over the central district and near the ranges. Areas of smoke haze, mostly in the east. A mild to warm and cloudy day with a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting westerly in the west later.Fire Danger -  High.Sunday 14 AprilScattered showers over the southwest, Isolated showers elsewhere. Generally mild with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Monday 15 AprilRain areas in the north and east, clearing from the northwest during the afternoon. Scattered showers in the south. Generally cool and cloudy with moderate southerly winds.Tuesday 16 AprilRain areas in the east clearing. Isolated showers elsewhere in the south. Cool to mild with moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
