Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 5/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system near Tasmania is the dominant synoptic feature in the region, and is directing generally easterly winds across New South Wales. This pattern is bringing showers to many areas east of the Divide, while promoting generally fine conditions to the west. During the next day or two this high will drift slowly east and weaken as an upper level trough moves northward over eastern NSW. The upper trough will promote heavier and more widespread shower activity about the coast and ranges over the weekend. A weak low pressure trough will cross the south of the state late on the weekend before the next high moves across from the west in a manner quite similar to the current system.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered along the coast and adjacent ranges during the day. The chance of thunderstorms over southern and central parts of the coast and in the far northwest, mostly afternoon. Possible isolated afternoon showers about the western slopes and in the far west of the state. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog patches in the east. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Sunday 7 AprilIsolated showers in the eastern half of the state, tending scattered along the north coast with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 8 AprilIsolated showers over the coast, and also northern ranges and slopes. Showers tending scattered on the northern coast. Light winds tending southeast.Tuesday 9 AprilScattered showers coast. Isolated showers ranges and western slope in the north. Fine remainder.
