MELBOURNE - Apr 5/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system just east of Tasmania will drift slowly northwards on the weekend to lie east of Bass Strait. A weak upper level trough will affect eastern Victoria on Saturday. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania on Sunday night then a new high centre will move from Bight waters to pass south of Tasmania on Monday to reach the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from the chance of local showers about the eastern ranges. Areas of smoke, mostly in the northeast. Mainly clear with light winds.Saturday 6 AprilLocal early fog, mainly over central and eastern districts. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing near the eastern ranges in the afternoon. Areas of smoke, mainly in the east. Mild to warm and mostly sunny with light to moderate northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Moderate to high.Sunday 7 AprilFine apart from morning fog patches over central and eastern areas and isolated showers developing near the eastern ranges in the afternoon. Mild to warm with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Monday 8 AprilMorning drizzle patches near the coast. The chance of local afternoon showers or thunderstorms over the central and eastern ranges.
