Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 4/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strengthening high pressure system near Bass Strait extends a ridge across the Tasman Sea, and is directing generally easterly winds across New South Wales. This pattern is bringing showers to many areas east of the Divide, while promoting generally fine conditions to the west. Over the next few days this high will drift slowly east, keeping passing cold fronts well to the south. A weak low pressure trough is forecast to cross the region late on the weekend as the next high approaches from the west.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers about the coast and tablelands, mainly in the north, tending more widespread about the coastal fringe in the north. The chance of afternoon showers about the northwest slopes. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds, freshening in the northeast.Friday 5 AprilIsolated showers over the ranges and coast, tending scattered along the northern coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 6 AprilIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered along the northern coast. The chance of thunderstorms over the south and central coastal fringe. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Sunday 7 AprilIsolated showers in the eastern half of the state, tending scattered along the north coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 8 AprilIsolated showers over the coast, and also northern ranges and slopes. Showers tending scattered on the northern coast.
