Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 31/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high pressure ridge will lie over northern Victoria during Monday. A cold front over the Southern Ocean will move northeastwards rapidly to cross Bass Strait and clip southern Victoria on Tuesday morning. A large high pressure system will develop over Bight waters on Tuesday then move eastwards and strengthen on Wednesday before drifting across Tasmania on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine over most areas, but isolated showers near the southwest and central coasts extending inland over the southwest late in the day. A cool to mild day, mostly sunny at first but cloud increasing from the west this afternoon. Light to moderate westerly winds in the south, freshening later on the coast and light southwesterly winds in the north.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate.Tuesday 2 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers just penetrating north of the divide. Generally cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 3 AprilIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to East Gippsland during the afternoon. Fine over the north. A cool day with a moderating southerly wind.Thursday 4 AprilFine after isolated showers in East Gippsland clear during the morning. A mostly sunny day with a light southeasterly wind and afternoon coastal seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
