MELBOURNE - Mar 30/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will cross eastern Bass Strait and southern Victoria on Sunday morning before moving away to the east and allowing a weak ridge to extend over Victoria on Sunday night. Another cold front will rapidly cross the Southern Ocean on Monday and its northern tip will cross Bass Strait and southern Victoria on Tuesday morning. On Wednesday a large and strengthening high pressure system will be centred to the west of Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers, scattered this morning over much of Central Victoria and Gippsland then contracting to the far east and the southwest coast by the evening. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds extending throughout during the morning then easing tonight.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Monday 1 AprilFine over most areas, but isolated showers near the southwest and central coasts extending inland over the southwest late in the day. A cool to mild day with light to moderate westerly winds near the coast, tending light southwesterly inland.Tuesday 2 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers penetrating north of the divide. Generally cool with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 3 AprilIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas contracting to East Gippsland during the afternoon. Fine over the north.
