MELBOURNE - Mar 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An upper level trough over South Australia will approach northwest Victoria late Saturday then will weaken on Sunday. Meanwhile, a cold front over the Southern Ocean will approach southwest Victoria Saturday night then will move rapidly eastwards through Bass Strait on Sunday morning, clipping southern Victoria. Another front will follow a similar path, reaching the far southwest Monday night, then will move rapidly eastwards across southern Victoria early Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayDry apart from isolated showers near the western and central coasts this evening. Generally light winds.Saturday 30 MarchIsolated morning fog, mainly over the north. Scattered showers developing over the southwest during the morning then spreading to adjacent districts during the afternoon. Generally dry over far northern and eastern districts, but isolated showers reaching the far northwest late in the day. A mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh at times on the coast. Afternoon seabreezes developing along parts of the Gippsland coast.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Sunday 31 MarchIsolated showers over most districts contracting northeastwards during the day and tending to clear during the evening. A cool to mild day with moderate west to southwesterly winds extending throughout and becoming fresh near the coast.Monday 1 AprilDry over most areas, but isolated showers near the southwest and central coast extending inland over the southwest late in the day. A mild day with light to moderate westerly winds near the coast, tending light southwesterly inland.Tuesday 2 AprilScattered showers over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers penetrating north of the divide.
