Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow moving high to the southwest of Perth extends a ridge over South Australia. A series of weak fronts will pass over the south of the State during the weekend. A middle level trough combined with tropical moisture will maintain a band of rain across the north of the State for the next few days. The high will move across South Australia mid-week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayPatchy rain north of about Woomera, increasing to areas of rain in the far northwest. Possible isolated showers about coastal districts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 30 MarchPatchy rain extending eastwards over areas north of Ceduna to Clare, increasing to areas of rain north of about Tarcoola to Yunta during the day and clearing from the west to be confined to area northeast of Oodnadatta to Leigh Creek by late evening. Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area and western coasts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds tending northwesterly in the far south.Sunday 31 MarchPatchy rain clearing from the far northeast during the morning. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area and the west coast. Mild with moderate southwest to southeast winds.Monday 1 AprilPossible isolated light showers about the coasts. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 2 AprilIsolated showers extending over the southern agricultural area and western coast during the day, then contracting to southern coasts later. Mild to warm with moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday afternoon until midnight Tuesday are expected to be generally 2 to 10 mm, apart from districts east of the ranges where up to 2 mm is expected, increasing to 10 to 40 mm in the northwest. Isolated falls of 40 to 60 possible in the northwest corner.Wednesday until FridayFine apart from possible light showers clearing from the southern coasts on Wednesday. Mild to warm with moderate southeasterly winds turning northeasterly later in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033
