MELBOURNE - Mar 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high to the southwest of Perth extends a ridge over South Australia with a weak cold front passing over the far south of the State early Sunday morning. A middle level trough combined with tropical moisture will maintain a band of rain across the north of the State for the next few days. Forecast for the rest of FridayPatchy rain north of about Woomera, increasing to areas of rain in the far northwest during the day. Possible isolated showers about coastal districts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 30 MarchPatchy rain extending eastwards over areas north of Ceduna to Clare, increasing to areas of rain north of about Tarcoola to Yunta during the day and clearing from the west to be confined to area northeast of Oodnadatta to Leigh Creek by late evening. Isolated showers developing about the southern agricultural area and western coasts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds tending northwesterly in the far south.Sunday 31 MarchAreas of rain in the far northeast clearing during the day. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area and the west coast. Mild with moderate southwest to southeast winds.Monday 1 AprilPossible isolated light showers about the coasts. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday until midnight Monday are expected to be generally 2 to 5 mm over the agricultural area, West Coast and Northeast Pastoral districts, apart from districts east of the ranges where up to 2 mm is expected. Falls of 2 to 10 mm are expected across the south of the Northwest Pastoral district increasing to 10 to 40 mm in the northwest with isolated falls of 40 to 60 possible.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers about the agricultural areas and West Coast district becoming less likely during the period and contracting to the Lower South East coast by Thursday.
