Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move through eastern districts this morning. Another cold front will move rapidly across Bass Strait this afternoon. A high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Friday and is expected to persist just north of Victoria over the Easter period while weak cold fronts cross Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting to eastern districts in the afternoon and clearing the far east at night. Scattered showers to follow near and south of the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms and small hail possible near the southwestern and central coasts in the afternoon and evening. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly from the west in the afternoon and evening and becoming strong along the coastal fringe.Fire Danger -  Generally High to Very High.Friday 29 MarchIsolated showers possible in the south, mainly near the coast. Dry and mostly sunny over the north. A cool to mild day with moderate west to southwesterly winds over the south tending over the north.Saturday 30 MarchIsolated showers possible over most districts near and south of the ranges, mainly near the coast. Remaining dry over central and eastern Gippsland and the northern plains. A mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh at times on the coast. Afternoon seabreezes developing along parts of the Gippsland coast.Sunday 31 MarchIsolated showers over the south, mainly near the coast. Remaining dry over East Gippsland and the northern plains. A mild day with light to moderate westerly winds tending southwesterly during the day and becoming fresh at times near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
