Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front is moving across western New South Wales and it will move over the northeast of the state tonight or early Friday and weaken. Later on Saturday and early Sunday another cold front will move rapidly through the south and a high pressure system will move south of the Bight extending a ridge behind the front. The high is expected to move very slowly east over the next few days strengthening the ridge across the state.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the southwest, extending to southeast, central and northwestern areas during the day. Rain becoming more widespread about the southwest slopes and Alpine areas, with the chance of local thunder near the Victorian border. Isolated showers about the far north coast, otherwise fine and partly cloudy in the northeast. Warm to hot northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening across the south ahead of a cool and gusty southwesterly change in the south and west.Friday 29 MarchRain areas in the northeast, easing to showers. Isolated showers in the southeast and northwest, mostly clearing during the morning. Fine in the southwest. Northerly winds in the northeast, and a southerly change extending across the remainder.Saturday 30 MarchThe chance of showers across the north, otherwise fine. Generally southeast to southwesterly winds, becoming light and variable inland.Sunday 31 MarchScattered showers in the northeast, possibly extending south to the Illawarra coast and west to the far northwestern inland. Fine elsewhere. South to southwesterly winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
