Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is maintaining a ridge towards southeast Queensland, while a weak low pressure trough lies over northeastern New South Wales. A second trough, with an associated cold front, is approaching from the west. Northerly winds between these system will bring warm to hot conditions across New South Wales Wednesday. Late on Wednesday the cold front will reach the west of the state, preceded by unsettled conditions. The frontal system is then expected to move fairly quickly across the region during Thursday and Friday, accompanied by rain areas and a cooler southerly change.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayEarly fog patches about the coast and ranges. Isolated showers about the northern coast and ranges. Late showers developing in the west, with the chance of thunder. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, with warm to hot northeast to northwesterly winds freshening across the south and west.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Riverina.Thursday 28 MarchRain areas in the southwest, extending to southeast, central and northwestern areas during the day. Rain becoming more widespread about the southwest slopes and Alpine areas, with the chance of local thunder. Possible showers about the far north coast, otherwise fine and partly cloudy in the northeast. Warm to hot northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening across the south ahead of a cool and gusty southwesterly change in the south and west.Friday 29 MarchRain areas in the northeast, easing to showers during the afternoon. Isolated showers in the southeast and northwest, mostly clearing during the morning. Fine in the southwest. Northerly winds in the northeast, and a southerly change extending across the remainder.Saturday 30 MarchThe chance of showers across the north, otherwise fine. Generally southeast to southwesterly winds, becoming light and variable inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
