Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure will move east over Eyre Peninsula and the Northwest Pastoral this morning, then extend across the Northeast Pastoral district to be near Moomba around midnight. A cold front will move across the agricultural area today. Another front will cross the south on Thursday, with a high to the southwest of Perth extending a ridge over South Australia on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayAreas of rain in the west, extending eastwards across central and eastern districts during the morning and afternoon and clearing from the southwest later, with isolated showers to follow. Patchy rain extending into the North East Pastoral district later in the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms across most districts, tending scattered in the northwest. Warm to hot with fresh and gusty northeast to northwesterly winds, grading to hot to very hot over northeastern parts, ahead of a milder, moderate to fresh southwest change over the west during the morning, extending to the far northeast late evening, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 28 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Coober Pedy to Keith, easing to patchy rain and contracting to northeast of Oodnadatta to Broken Hill late evening. Isolated showers over Kangaroo Island, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the South East with possible showers over the agricultural area and West Coast. Hot to very hot in the far northeast, mild elsewhere. Light to moderate northerly winds in the far northeast at first. Winds tending fresh westerly over the agricultural area for a period during the day, otherwise moderate to fresh southwest to southerly extending throughout.Friday 29 MarchPatchy rain north of about Coober Pedy. Possible isolated showers about coastal districts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 30 MarchPatchy rain north of Woomera, increasing to areas of rain northwest of about Coober Pedy. Possible isolated showers about the coastal districts. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday until midnight Saturday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm across the agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 20 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East coast. 10 to 20 mm is expected across the northwest of the Pastoral districts. Local falls of 20 to 50 mm are possible with thunderstorms in the far northwest.Sunday until TuesdayPatchy rain in the north on Sunday, contracting northeast and clearing. Possible isolated showers about the coasts. Mild to warm days with moderate southwest to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
