Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is maintaining a ridge towards southeast Queensland, while a low pressure trough lies over northeastern New South Wales. This trough is weakening while a broad trough with embedded fronts approaches from the west. As the high remains near New Zealand, northerly winds will develop across the state, bringing warm to hot conditions in most districts. The cold front is expected to move fairly quickly across the region during Thursday and Friday, accompanied by rain areas and a cooler southerly change.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPossible showers along the northern coast, and the chance of afternoon thunderstorms about the northern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, becoming warm to hot inland. Early fog patches about the coast and ranges. East to northeasterly winds, freshening about the southern coastWednesday 27 MarchThe chance of showers about the northern coast and ranges. Late showers developing in the far southwest. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, with warm to hot northeast to northwesterly winds freshening across the south and west.Thursday 28 MarchRain areas in the southwest, extending to southeast, central and northwestern areas during the day. Rain becoming more widespread about the southwest slopes and Alpine areas, with the chance of local thunder. Possible showers about the far north coast, otherwise fine and partly cloudy in the northeast. Warm to hot northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening across the south ahead of a cooler southwesterly change in the south and west.Friday 29 MarchShowers in the northeast, increasing during the afternoon with possible thunderstorms. Isolated showers in the southeast and northwest, clearing through the day. Fine in the southwest.
