Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea. A cold front will develop over the far west of the State Tuesday evening, extending eastwards during Wednesday to reach the far northeast in the evening. Another front will cross the south of the State on Thursday, with a high to the southwest of Perth extending a ridge over South Australia on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayPossible isolated light showers over the pastoral districts west of Leigh Creek, Flinders, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and the Mid North, clearing late evening. Possible thunderstorms in the far northwest. Mild to warm in the south and southeast, hot in the north and west. Light and variable winds, tending moderate to fresh northerly in the west.Tuesday 26 MarchPatchy rain developing in the far west late morning, increasing to areas of rain with isolated thunderstorms and extending to west of Ernabella to Port Lincoln during the afternoon. Patchy rain developing elsewhere west of Coober Pedy to Kingscote in the evening. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, strengthening in the west ahead of a fresh southwesterly change west of Nullarbor in the evening.Wednesday 27 MarchAreas of rain in the west, extending eastwards across central and eastern districts during the morning and afternoon and clearing from the southwest later, with isolated showers to follow. Patchy rain and possible thunderstorms developing in the south and west of the North East Pastoral district later in the day. Isolated thunderstorms extending across most districts excluding the far northeast and the Lower South East, more likely over western districts. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, grading to hot to very hot over northeastern parts, ahead of a milder, moderate to fresh southwest change over the west during the morning, reaching the far northeast late evening.Thursday 28 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Tarcoola to Keith, patchier in the far northeast, contracting to northeast of Oodnadatta to Broken Hill late evening. Isolated showers across the agricultural area and west coast, scattered about Kangaroo Island, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the South East. Hot to very hot in the far northeast, mild elsewhere. Light to moderate northerly winds in the far northeast at first. Winds tending fresh westerly over the agricultural area for a period during the day, otherwise moderate to fresh southwest to southerly extending throughout.Friday 29 MarchAreas of rain north of about Coober Pedy. Possible isolated showers about coastal districts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds. No significant rainfall is expected Monday evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning until midnight Friday are expected to be 10 to 15 mm across the agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 20 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges. 10 to 20 mm is expected across the Flinders and Pastoral districts, grading to less than 5 mm northeast of Moomba. Local falls of 20 to 40 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Saturday until MondayAreas of rain north of about Coober Pedy, contracting to the far northeast and clearing later Sunday. Possible isolated showers about the agricultural area, contracting to the coasts during Sunday and Monday. Mild to warm days with moderate southwest to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
