Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is maintaining a ridge towards southeast Queensland, while a low pressure trough lies over northeastern New South Wales. This trough is weakening as another high pressure system approaches from the west. As the high shifts to the Tasman Sea early in the new week, northerly winds will develop across the state, bringing warm to hot conditions in most districts. The next cold front is expected to move fairly quickly across the region during Thursday and Friday, accompanied by rain areas and a cooler southerly change.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms about the northern coast. Chance of afternoon showers about the central parts of the coast and central ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Tuesday 26 MarchIsolated showers along the northern coast, and the chance of afternoon showers or storms about the northern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, becoming warm to hot inland. East to northeasterly winds, freshening about the southern coastWednesday 27 MarchThe chance of showers about the northern coast and ranges. Late showers developing in the far southwest. Fine elsewhere, with warm to hot northeast to northwesterly winds freshening across the south and west.Thursday 28 MarchRain areas across the south, extending to central and northwestern areas during the day. The chance of thunderstorms across the south. Possible showers about the far north coast, otherwise fine in the northeast. Warm to hot northeast to northwest winds, freshening across the south ahead of a cooler southwesterly change in the south and west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
