MELBOURNE - Mar 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak cold front is moving across Bass Strait. A high 1020 hPa over the State will move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea by Monday night. A stronger cold front will reach Nullarbor late Tuesday evening, move across most of the State on Wednesday, then across the far northeast on Thursday morning. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers west of Coober Pedy to Fowlers Bay, with possible thunder in the northwest. Isolated showers over southern coasts and ranges clearing by late evening. Mild in the south, warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh westerly winds in the south, easing to light to moderate in the evening. Light and variable winds in the north.Monday 25 MarchEarly fog patches over the agricultural area. Isolated showers west of a line Oodnadatta to Woomera to Ceduna, with possible isolated thunderstorms in the far northwest. Mild to warm in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Light and variable winds, tending northerly and freshening in the far west during the afternoon.Tuesday 26 MarchFine at first. Patchy rain developing in the far west late morning, extending eastwards to reach a line near Ernabella to Cape Jervis late evening and increasing to areas of rain in the far west. Isolated thunderstorms developing west of about Ernabella to Streaky Bay. Hot to very hot with northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening from the west ahead of a cooler, fresh southwest change reaching Nullarbor late evening.Wednesday 27 MarchAreas of rain in the west, extending northeastwards to reach a line near Oodnadatta to Broken Hill late evening and easing to isolated showers later in the southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms. Hot to very hot over northeastern parts, otherwise generally mild under areas of rain. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a cooler, moderate to fresh southwest change, reaching the far northeast late evening.Thursday 28 MarchAreas of rain northeast of about Tarcoola to Lameroo, but southwest of Moomba. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered south of about Kingscote to Lameroo. Isolated thunderstorms northeast of Coober Pedy to Yunta, contracting to the far northeast. Hot to very hot in the far northeast, cool in the southeast and mild elsewhere. Light to moderate northerly winds in the far northeast ahead of a moderate to fresh south to southwest change extending throughout, tending fresh to strong northwest to southwest over the southern agricultural area. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday evening until midnight Thursday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm, with isolated falls of 15 to 30 mm with thunderstorms. Less than 5 mm northeast of Marree.Friday until SundayIsolated showers about coastal districts.
