Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak cold front will move to the south of the State today. A high pressure system over southern parts of the Pastoral and Flinders districts will move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman sea by Monday night. Another, stronger cold front will move across the State on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers northwest of Coober Pedy, with possible thunder further north and west. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting southwards during the afternoon, then clearing by late evening. Showers temporarily scattered about coastal parts of the Lower South East until mid-morning. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds over the agricultural area, increasing to fresh to strong near southern coasts, shifting west to southwesterly during the afternoon then easing. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds over the remainder. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north.Monday 25 MarchEarly fog patches over the agricultural area. Isolated showers over the North West Pastoral district northwest of Woomera and over the West Coast district west of Ceduna. Mild to warm in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Winds becoming light to moderate northeast to northerly throughout, freshening in the west.Tuesday 26 MarchFine at first. Patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms developing in the west in the afternoon or evening, over areas west of about Ernabella to Elliston. Warm to hot with northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening from the west.Wednesday 27 MarchAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the west early, extending throughout during the day, except for the far northeast of the State, easing to isolated showers over western parts during the day. Hot to very hot over northeastern parts ahead of the rain, otherwise generally mild in rain areas. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a west to southwesterly wind change in the far west, extending eastwards to reach the far northeast late evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday morning until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm, with isolated falls of 15 to 25 mm with thunderstorms.Thursday until SaturdayAreas of rain chiefly over the Flinders and North East Pastoral districts, contracting northeastwards during the day, becoming confined to the far north for Friday and Saturday. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area and western coasts on Thursday, contracting to western and southern coasts and ranges for Friday and Saturday. Generally mild days with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
