MELBOURNE - Mar 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand is slowly moving to the southeast maintaining a ridge to New South Wales north coast and a cold front lies over the south of the state. The front will move slowly to central parts of the state today before stalling and weakening over the northeast on the weekend. On Monday the trough will weaken further further as another ridge develops throughout the state. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and thunderstorms from the central part of the coast to the northwest of the state, tending scattered about the central ranges and adjacent western slopes this afternoon and possibly severe. Isolated showers and thunderstorms extending further towards the northeast during the afternoon. The chance of showers over the southern inland and for the far north coast this morning. Northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change in the west and south.Saturday 23 MarchShowers over northern and central parts, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to southwest winds, turning northeasterly along the northern coast.Sunday 24 MarchIsolated showers with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to northeasterly winds becoming west to southwesterly in the southwest.Monday 25 MarchThe chance of showers near the coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
