MELBOURNE - Mar 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system south of Tasmania will weaken as it moves southwards today. A series of cold fronts embedded in a broad westerly flow will move across southern parts of the State today and Saturday as a weak high becomes established over South Australia. The high is expected to move eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea by Monday night. Forecast for the rest of FridayPossible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy with possible afternoon thunderstorms in the far northeast. Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area with possible isolated light showers elsewhere south of about Tarcoola to Port Augusta to Renmark contracting south from late afternoon. Cool to mild in the south with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Warm to hot in the north with moderate south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 23 MarchPossible isolated showers over southern agricultural areas with isolated showers about southern coasts. Possible isolated showers north of about Coober Pedy. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, tending southeasterly over northern parts of the State. Warm to hot in the north, cool to mild in the south.Sunday 24 MarchPossible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers about southern coasts with possible isolated showers over remaining parts of the southern agricultural area, all contracting to southern coasts during the day. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the north and west.Monday 25 March Possible light isolated morning showers about the southern coasts. Isolated showers developing over the Northwest Pastoral district. Mild to warm in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Winds becoming moderate northeast to northwesterly throughout. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning until midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over Northwest Pastoral and southern agricultural areas increasing 5 to 10 mm about southern coasts and ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere. Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers in the west gradually extending over the State during Wednesday and Thursday. Showers increasing to scattered showers over agricultural areas.
