Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will move slowly towards New Zealand over the next couple of days maintaining the ridge to the the northwest. A trough will move through the state on Thursday and Friday, bringing an increase in northwesterly winds and some rain to the south of the state on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers in the northeast, clearing in the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across southern and central districts tending to rain areas over the southern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Patchy early fog in the east. Northeast to northwesterly winds, becoming strong and gusty across the south ahead of a southwesterly change.Fire Danger -  Severe Northern and Southern Riverina. Very High Lower Central West Plains, Far Western.Friday 22 MarchThe chance of showers on the north coast. Isolated showers over northwestern and central parts, with thunderstorms possible over central parts during the afternoon. South to southwesterly winds in the south. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north.Saturday 23 MarchIsolated to scattered showers over northern and central parts, with thunderstorms possible during the afternoon. Northwest to southwest winds, turning northeasterly along the northern coast.Sunday 24 MarchShowers with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to northeasterly winds becoming west to southwesterly in the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
