Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low pressure system is moving across the Bight and is expected to move to the south of Tasmania this evening. An associated cold front will move across southern parts of the State today. A weak ridge of high pressure will develop over northern parts of the State. Another front will move over southern coasts early on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain about eastern districts during the early morning. Isolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered at times about southern coasts and ranges. Showers contracting to the South East during the day. Possible early morning thunder over the agricultural areas east of Adelaide. Possible showers south of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek clearing during the day. Possible early thunder across the south of the Pastorals and Flinders districts. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north. Fresh to strong northwest to southwest winds, strong to gale force about southern coasts and ranges. Winds tending southwest to southeasterly and easing during the day.Friday 22 MarchPossible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers about southern coasts with possible isolated light showers north of Adelaide but south of Woomera, clearing during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Warm to hot in the north with moderate south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 23 MarchPossible isolated showers south of about Adelaide with isolated showers about southern coasts. Possible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, tending southeasterly over northern parts of the State. Warm to hot in the north, cool to mild in the south.Sunday 24 MarchPossible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the north and west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday until midnight Saturday are expected to be generally 2 to 5 mm, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area south of Adelaide, reaching 10 to 15 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers developing over the Northwest pastoral extending south and east during the period to be throughout the State on Wednesday. Mild to warm about the coasts grading to hot in the north. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds turning north to northwesterly and freshening on Tuesday ahead of a moderate to fresh southwesterly change in the west, extending throughout on Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
