MELBOURNE - Mar 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough west of Ceduna will move eastwards to reach northeast and eastern districts Thursday morning and the the far northeast Thursday evening. A front southwest of the Bight will cross over southern coasts during Thursday morning. A weak ridge of high pressure will develop over southern parts of the state during Thursday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated light showers over western districts, extending over southern coastal areas with possible light showers over the remainder of the agricultural area. Possible thunderstorms over the West Coast, extending over Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island late evening. Fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder southwesterly wind change near Ceduna extending to about Whyalla late evening.Thursday 21 MarchAreas of rain about eastern districts during the early morning, with isolated showers over the agricultural area contracting to the South East during the day. Possible early morning thunder about Kangaroo Island and the South East districts. Possible showers south of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek clearing during the day. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout. Winds strong and gusty about southern coasts and the Lower South East.Friday 22 MarchPossible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers about southern coasts with possible isolated light showers north of Adelaide but south of Woomera, clearing during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Warm to hot in the north with moderate south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 23 MarchPossible isolated showers south of about Adelaide with isolated showers about southern coasts. Possible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, tending southeasterly over northern parts of the State. Warm to hot in the north, cool to mild in the south.Sunday 24 MarchPossible isolated showers north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the north and west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday until midnight Saturday are expected to be generally 2 to 5 mm, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area south of Adelaide.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers developing over the Northwest pastoral extending south and east during the period to be throughout the State on Wednesday. Mild to warm about the coasts grading to hot in the north.
